Delta Air Lines Expands Its Horizons with New Caribbean and Mexico Flights in 2024.
Delta Air Lines is broadening its travel network, this time turning its gaze towards destinations famed for their sun-drenched beaches and vibrant cultures.
Travel enthusiasts will soon have smoother access to the Dominican Republic's pristine beaches, Barbados' renowned rum distilleries, the scenic Pacific Coast of Mexico, and the picturesque, colorful streets of Curaçao.
The airline recently unveiled a series of new and extended routes to sought-after spots in Latin America and the Caribbean, set to commence in November and December of this year. These additions are aimed at enhancing connectivity and providing more flexible travel options during the peak season for vacations in these tropical paradises.
The planned services are as follows:
From Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) to Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI) in Barbados, daily flights will begin on November 23. Departures from Atlanta are scheduled for 9:45 a.m., arriving in Barbados at 3:20 p.m. The return flights will depart at 4:40 p.m., arriving back in Atlanta at 9:00 p.m.
Atlanta (ATL) to Puerto Plata International Airport (POP) in the Dominican Republic will also see daily flights starting November 23. These flights will depart ATL at 11:10 a.m. and land at POP at 3:20 p.m. The return journey is set for 4:40 p.m., with an arrival time in Atlanta at 7:10 p.m.
Service from Minneapolis–St. Paul International Airport (MSP) to Mazatlán International Airport (MZT) in Mexico will operate three times weekly (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays) beginning December 21. Flights will leave Minnesota at 10:05 a.m. and arrive in Mexico at 1:15 p.m., with the return leg departing at 2:35 p.m. and landing at 7:30 p.m.
New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Barbados (BGI) will feature Saturday-only service starting December 21. Flights are set to leave JFK at 8:15 a.m., reaching BGI at 2:05 p.m. Return flights will take off at 3:35 p.m. and arrive in New York at 7:35 p.m.
Flights from Atlanta (ATL) to Curaçao International Airport (CUR) will increase from Saturday-only to daily service beginning November 23. Departures from Atlanta are planned for 9:45 a.m., landing in Curaçao at 2:45 p.m. The return flights are scheduled for 4:10 p.m., arriving in Atlanta at 7:30 p.m.
These routes will be serviced by Boeing 737-800 aircraft, featuring 16 first-class recliners, 36 Comfort+ seats with additional legroom and dedicated overhead bin space, and 108 standard economy seats. Travelers can book their tickets for these flights directly through Delta’s website.
Delta’s expansion into Latin America and the Caribbean this winter extends beyond these locations, with the airline set to connect travelers to 50 cities across the region and nearly 200 cities globally.
This initiative is part of Delta’s ongoing efforts to extend its global reach. Recent announcements include the inauguration of a nonstop route from Atlanta to the new Tulum Airport (TQO) in Mexico on March 28, 2024, and plans for a daily nonstop service from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) starting June 6, 2024. Additionally, Delta will introduce new routes to Europe in the spring and summer of 2024, including services from ATL to Zurich Airport (ZRH) beginning May 31; JFK to Naples International Airport (NAP) and Shannon Airport (SNN) in Ireland, both starting May 23; and JFK to Munich Airport (MUC) in Germany commencing April 9.
