TRAVEL UPDATE: New Travel Authorization Requirements for the UK, France, and Italy

Planning travel in 2025? Stay ahead with the latest updates to ensure a smooth journey!

Travel to the United Kingdom (UK)

Starting January 8, 2025, visa-exempt travelers, including those from the US and Canada, must apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to enter or transit through the UK.

  • Application Timing: Apply at least 30 days before your trip to allow for processing.

  • Cost: £10

  • Validity: Two years or until passport expires.

  • How to Apply:

  • Note: An ETA allows you to travel to the UK but does not guarantee entry. Final permission is granted by an immigration officer.

Travel to France & Italy (Schengen Area)

The European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) launches in Spring 2025 for visa-exempt travelers visiting the Schengen Area, including France and Italy.

  • Who Needs ETIAS: Non-EU/EEA citizens who don't require a visa for short stays.

  • Application Timing: Apply at least one month before travel for a quick approval process.

  • Cost: €7 (waived for travelers under 18 or over 70).

  • Validity: Three years or until passport expires.

  • How to Apply: Complete the application online through the ETIAS Portal.

General Travel Tips

  • Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned departure.

  • Always carry proof of sufficient funds, health insurance, and a return or onward ticket.

  • Check for the latest health and safety guidelines related to COVID-19 or other concerns.
